Before and After
Since the 60's we have a rainfed animal husbandry farm in traditional Alentejo molds, in other words, cows and cereals.
At the end of 80's and with our membership to the European Community, we were faced with a new reality, given that traditional cultures would have great difficulty competing with our European colleagues in an open market.
So we convert a parcel of 26 hectares in irrigated land: in 1997 we planted 13 hectares of olive groves (pickled olives), and in 1999, 12 hectares of vineyards.
Three years later we realized that it would not be easy to market the grapes because the offer then far exceeded the demand.
Therefore, we believe that the path would be to create conditions to vinify our production. Said and done.
Under the supervision of the winemakers – engineer João Melícias and engineer Jorge Páscoa – we built and technically fitted a cellar adapted to our dimension.
The vineyard is located on the 'REGUENGO OF SOUZÃO' homestead, held by the Fernandes de Moura family since August 1934, when it was purchased from Queen Amélia of France and Bragança, according scripture that we hold and due to the involved personages is an interesting document to be interpreted in the present days.
In this vineyard we produce, on integrated production the red grapes from the Aragonês, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet red grape varieties, and, Arinto, Antão Vaz and Verdelho white grape varieties that gave birth to the “Reguengo do Souzão”.
The Vine and the Grape
It is our concern to treat the vine throughout the year to be better prepared for the height of flowering.
Our Breeds are:
• Aragonez
• Alicante Bouschet
• Trincadeira
• Arinto
• Antão Vaz
• Verdelho
The grafting of the vine with the grapes most appreciated by the consumer has also been a concern. Grape harvesting is manual and transport in boxes to the door of our cellar. This ensures that we carry the scents from the field to the house.
Winemaking
Our winery was inaugurated in 2004, is equipped with stainless steel vats for fermentation and stage of our wines and we have French oak casks to train our reserves.

Our Wines
Our regional wine is Reguengo of Souzão, which was christened with the name of our property.
In years that we provide we make the Reguengo of Souzão Vintage or Reguengo of Souzão Choice.
Our Bag-in-Box lot is Vai-a-Monte, (name of the village next to the property where we have installed the vineyard).
Our Production
We have an average production of 80,000 Liters / Year, and only in 2011 did we start making White Wine.
